About this symposium

Since 2008, an exchange meeting between Hokkaido University and Hirosaki University has taken place every year in order to have an opportunity to discuss radiation effects on the human body. The annual meeting enables graduate students from both Universities to improve their knowledge and skills of radiology and radiation protection, which is relevant to radiation physics and biology, environmental health, radiotherapy and so on. The accident at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant after the earthquake and tsunami on March 11, 2011 has attracted a keen interest in the effect of radioactivity on the environment and human beings with low-dose exposures. In order to learn more about radiation and human health, the meeting was upgraded to an international conference as “Educational Symposium on Radiation and Health (ESRAH) by Young Scientists” in 2014. Participants have gained knowledge and new findings on radiation and human health from top-class researchers via educational lectures and poster presentations at this symposium.

This year, the 3rd ESRAH will be held on 1st-2nd October, 2016 at Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan. There will be 7 educational invited lectures and a poster session for young participants. Prizes will be awarded on Sunday, October 2nd for the most outstanding contributions. We hope that this symposium provides the opportunity for young scientists all over the world to develop not only their knowledge about radiation and health but also relationships among fellow scholars. We are looking forward to your participation !!
